Hello SGSL Families,
I’m excited to introduce myself as the new President of Sunnyvale Girls Softball League. My name is Daniel Poo, and I’m a proud softball dad with three daughters who all played in the league. I’m also the coach for the Sunnyvale Shockwave 8U travel team. SGSL has been a big part of our family’s life over the last couple of years, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to this amazing community.

Summer Shockwave 2026 Tryout Registration Now Open
Registration for the Summer Shockwave 2026 tryouts is now open and will close on April 24, 2026. Families interested in a more competitive softball experience are encouraged to sign up and learn more about this exciting opportunity.
The Shockwave program, offered through Sunnyvale Girls Softball League, provides a competitive summer travel ball experience for players in the 8U, 10U, and 12U divisions. Teams are formed through a tryout process and compete in tournaments across the Bay Area from Memorial Day weekend through early August, offering athletes the opportunity to elevate their game in a structured, team-oriented, and positive environment.
Shockwave is designed to support and develop our local players who participate in our recreational league. To be eligible, athletes must have participated in our Spring Recreational Season and attend tryouts, as team selection is based on players within our league.
Teams typically practice two days a week and participate in 4–6 tournaments throughout the summer, providing consistent opportunities for skill development, competition, and meaningful playing time. With a focus on tournament play, increased practice time, and advanced skill development, Shockwave offers a step up from recreational softball while maintaining strong ties to the local community.
The estimated cost for the Summer Shockwave season ranges from $650–$800, which includes uniforms, tournament entry fees, field permits, and insurance—making it a more affordable option compared to many other travel ball organizations.
