Shockwave Update
Shockwave 14U Earns First Win at Black Widow Tournament
The Sunnyvale Shockwave 14U continued to make strides this past weekend at the Black Widow Tournament, earning their first tournament victory of the fall season while competing against strong 14U competition.
Shockwave opened Saturday with a hard-fought game against Team California National, battling back from a two-run deficit to tie the game in the fourth inning. Sofia Poo and Abby Lopez-Galyon each drove in a run, while Aashvi Kadakia delivered a solid performance in the circle. The game ultimately ended on a walk-off hit by Team California.
The team’s biggest highlight came against Davis Dynamite, as Shockwave secured a 4–2 victory. Ellie Gerrard pitched five strong innings, allowing no earned runs while striking out three. Zara Caskey led the offense with two RBIs, while Evelyn Swanson-Smith and Gerrard also contributed hits.
Shockwave closed Saturday against Bay Area Bomb Squad, with Sofia Poo leading the offense with two hits and Abby Lopez-Galyon driving in a run. On Sunday, the team faced APEX Austin, where Kadakia pitched four innings without allowing an earned run and recorded three strikeouts.
While the team finished the weekend 1–3, there were plenty of positives to build on. After a challenging tournament debut over Labor Day weekend, this young 14U team showed improvement, competed in several close games, and celebrated its first tournament win together.
Up next: Shockwave will face San Jose Sting in a friendly before wrapping up its fall tournament season at the Jack Ball Tournament on October 24.
Congratulations to our 14U players and coaches on their continued growth! Go Shockwave!

On Saturday, Shockwave bounced back with an impressive 12-2 victory over the SM Comets! Tal V led the offense with four RBIs, while Kamila A pitched three strong innings, striking out three without allowing a walk. The team also collected an incredible 20 stolen bases and played error-free defense!

While the tournament results didn’t always go their way, our 12U players showed determination, teamwork, and continued growth throughout the weekend.
A big thank you to our coaches, players, and families for their dedication and commitment throughout the Fall season! We’re proud of the progress this team has made and look forward to seeing these athletes continue to develop.
Great season, Shockwave 12U! 💙💛🥎
Shockwave 10U Brings the Spirit to Field of Screams — Costume Contest Champions!
Our Sunnyvale Shockwave 10U team had an exciting weekend at the Field of Screams Tournament in San Bruno, finishing with a 2-2 record, earning the top seed in the Silver Bracket, and taking home first place in the 10U Costume Competition!
The team opened Saturday with an 8-3 loss to LGCS Magic (O’Reilly) before bouncing back with an exciting 11-6 comeback victory over San Lorenzo Heat! After falling behind by six runs, Shockwave rallied behind a three-run triple from Audrey C, an RBI single from Janelle S, and a key hit from Haley A. Alessandra P went 2-for-2 at the plate, while the team collected 12 stolen bases!
The momentum continued with a dominant 12-1 victory over LGCS Magic (Yamate). Ava D helped fuel the offense with a bases-loaded walk that brought in two runs and later pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Alessandra went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and struck out six batters in two innings. The team showed patience at the plate, drawing 12 walks and stealing an incredible 22 bases!
With two impressive wins, Shockwave earned the top seed in Sunday’s Silver Bracket. The team faced LGCS Magic (O’Reilly) in a rematch and jumped ahead 2-1 in the first inning. It was a close battle through the first two innings, with Magic holding a 5-2 lead, before a six-run third inning broke the game open. Shockwave continued to battle but ultimately fell 11-3.
While Shockwave didn’t bring home the tournament championship, they did take first place in the 10U Costume Competition! Our players showed that having fun, building friendships, and creating memories are just as important as competing on the field.
Up next: Shockwave 10U will wrap up its Fall season at the End of Fall Classic Tournament on October 24!
Great job, Shockwave 10U! Let’s finish the season strong! 💙💛🥎
See you on the field,
