Wess Jones Tournament, SOUTH SAN JOSE CA, July 9 2017 – The Shockwave 10C team is having a great summer under the leadership of Coach Tony Phillips.
On July 1, the 10U-C Shockwave earned their first win of the tournament season with a come from behind win over the Purple Trouble at the Foster City Softball tournament. In single elimination play, the team pulled off another come from behind against the LG Magic. Shockwave was behind the entire game until Lizet Salinas hit a bases loaded double to score three runs. Anya Lobo capped the win with a game ending double-play to seal the win. Shockwave advanced to the Silver Bracket Championship Game but came up short to Team Nitro.
This weekend at the the Wess Jones Tournament, the 10UC Shockwave entered single-elimination play with zero wins but went on to win a wire to wire victory over the Vipers. Kira Adams led all Shockwave hitters with four hits and six RBIs. With the win, the Shockwave advanced to the semifinals to play Synergy. The Shockwave played well but came up short to finish tournament play in 3rd place in the Silver Bracket.
Bagby Elementary School, SAN JOSE, CA, June 9 2017 – the girls of the Shockwave 8C Blue under Coach Tommy Herrera received their first tournament hardware, taking home second place trophies at the Bagby Classic tournament last week. Congratulations on a job well done, and the first career trophy for players on the team.
If you are looking for a little more intense softball game than regular recreation softball, then come check out “Sunnyvale Shockwave” teams.
Hit-a-thon is the one and only ‘FUN’-d raiser that SGSL has. SGSL girls compete against each other based on their age group for the longest hitter, longest thrower, fastest runner, most accurate thrower etc. It is a day filled with lots of fun. Ortega park transforms with bounce houses, BBQ, face painting and lots of other carnival type games. The winner of each category wins medals during closing day.
Don’t miss out the fun and in the process make sure you talk to friends and family about the event and fund raiser. All donations are tax deductible. Make sure to check if the company you work for match your donations. Thank you for making this event a success. These funds are used by SGSL to run all the clinics like pitching clinic, batting cages etc that benefit the SGSL players.
One of the most exciting features of spring softball season is the experience SGSL players have at the Sanford Softball game. SGSL players get to go meet the Stanford players and ask questions, take photos and get autographs. A few lucky early arrivals actually get to be interviewed by local TV stations and icing on the cake is of-course watching the Stanford girls play an awesome softball game!!
In March, the softball team from Santa Clara University visits the Ortega park in Sunnyvale and teach the SGSL players sliding, hitting, base running techniques. All players who are interested in the attending are welcome to attend the Clinic. This is provided free of cost to you by SGSL. So don’t miss your chance to get small group coaching by the softball players of Santa Clara University.
